Well, today I had to share with you a pleasant surprise…

I have talked a lot about denim in the past… In my prior life I used to train people in denim fitting, so when it comes to plus size jeans and trying them blindly, if they fit AND are comfortable, then I am in love!

Enough rambling… so today I received a pair of Curvy Fit Skinny Jeans from Eloquii for review. I had no expectations but I really wanted to like them- because another place to score denim is a win/win for plus size women- yes?

So What is the Verdict?

A while back in August, I received two pair of Lissé Leggings to review! However in the 100+ weather, it had been too warm to play in!

This all changed though when I went to New York for Fashion Week!

Lissé Leggings promised to deliver:

Elimination of “The Roll”

Four-way stretch

Hidden control panel

Tagless comfort

And to my surprise, they actually did! With the barrage of leggings that I have accumulated over the fall seasons, I must admit that the Lissé Leggings sure did hold me in! On top of feeling snug and comfortable, the stretch and movement was a thing of happiness as I walked all over Manhattan (or at least from Cab to Curb!) Being 5’8”, these leggings were actually QUITE long enough for me and then some! Even better, they were thick enough to be of substance and not see through, but thin enough to not overheat you or too bulky for boots!

I even rocked the cropped ones to a Pilates class and was feeling good in them! No pilling in between the thighs! I did not feel like I was about to start a fire- YES…. I think I have found a new STAPLE for my Fall Wardrobe!

What’s the deal behind Lissé Leggings?

Well. Lissé Leggings was the brainchild of Beth Gold Cohen, an avid shopper and former buyer for Macy’s NY! After searching for a pair of leggings that did NOT give her muffin top, Beth quickly resolved to create them herself. And so Lissé Leggings™, named after the French word for smooth, and pronounced Li-SAY, were born.

As a size 16/18, I can comfortably rock the XL or 1X! Available up to a size 3X (that is a SIZE 30!!!) are the Tight Ankle, Bootcut Legging, High Waisted Legging, and the Basic Capri!

Currently, I am in LOVE with the Stretch Knit Pleather Knee Leggings:

As a woman with thighs, an ample derriere, and a lil belly, finding a pair of jeans that speak the same language as my curves can be quite frustrating!

On the quest to find some that I can wear ALL DAY, lounge in, and be fashionable in, enter in PZI jeans. After being sent a pair of the PZI Ella Bootcut, I was pleasantly surprised. After wearing them a few times- once traveling in New York and on a relaxing lazy Sunday, I had to share with you all why these jeans made the denim cut for me.

For starters, these jeans were sized quite well! After thinking I had to play with an 18 (as most contemporary brands tend to size a bit smaller), I exchanged my jeans for my size- a 16.

The stretch in these was probably the optimal blend for my curves. So soft, not too soft to lose its shape, but not to tight to cut into my ladyparts either! You KNOW what I mean! These jeans were incredibly soft and comfortable!

The rise (the length from the crotch to the top of the zipper) was perfect, covering my pooch, but at a place that was comfortable and not too constricting- I felt held in!

The rinse (the color of the jean) in the indigo color gives me another dressier option to play with in my wardrobe- especially after realizing that I did not have an indigo rinse- not jeggings!

The length. I am 5’8” and my 34” inseam sends me to the high heavens with glee! Jeans that are long enough for heels AND flats when cuffed? YES! AND these are NOT the longest length! SWEET music to the long legged divas out there!

The pockets. How your bum looks in your jeans falls to strategic pocket placement. Ever notice how your bum can look ridiculously wide and flat (without being so?)? Chances are the pocket were so far apart and low, drawing the eye out and down. These pockets were a bit closer, angled, and stitched where I felt my bootie looked darn good! LOL.

Overall, I have found over the years PZI has stepped up its denim games with great blends and fashionable classic and contemporary cuts. I am pleasantly surprised with the brand and I had to share with you how happy and comfortable I am in these. Please know that you will more than likely see me in these over and over again!

The only drawback I have is that they stop their sizing at a size 18. Maybe one day they will fashion a plus line, but if you are on the smaller side of plus and care to fashion a pair of jeans that will not break your fashionable piggy bank, then these PZI Jeans are for you!

I have a special promo for you too! Save 10% off now with code PZ10-AFL!

You can check out the entire PZI Collection HERE and make sure to Tweet PZI on Twitter and Fan PZI on Facebook!

You know how you pass a store over and over again, you think that you know what’s in there… only to be quite surprised when you go in?

That was my experience this day when I visited the Avenue. I have known for the longest that the Avenue catered to plus size women, but I have always found their pieces to be too conservative for my liking (I kept telling myself), only to walk out of the store today with over $250 worth of merchandise (paid $175 due to a crazy sale!).

First impression?

Eh. Treasures to be found, if you have the time and patience to really look through and imagine your outfits.

I thought that the sales associates could have been more helpful. Honestly! And this is really hard for me to understand, with my 13 years in retail experience… So please excuse my irritation for the lack of help here, as I expect more when I go into an almost empty store… I am just saying…

SO!

I was greeted from the back of the store as I walked in- could not see the associate who said hello… weird. I dug through the seamless panties and bras, searching for my size for about a good 15 minutes- still with no assistance- although with most of my work done, I was in no real rush to get in and out.

I made my way through the jewelry (my real mission) and was finally approached by the sales associate (who spent most of her time near the register or doing work tasks) who asked me if I’d be shopping with my Avenue card and she also alerted me that a specific section of the jewels were on sale for like $3.96 or some random price like that.

I scooped up a handful of bracelets large enough for my big ole hands! (gotta get ready for Full Figured Fashion Week™! Walking across the store with a handful of jewelry, I made my way over to the shoes… pleasantly surprised with the selection! Cloud Walkers (I think this is their in house brand!) comes in all wide width selections!

I got these three shoes:

While trying on shoes and pulling my sizes, I walked over to the sales associate at the register and asked her if all their sizes were out… SO SAD! I really wanted the Yvonne Embellished Wedge Sandal but no more were left in the black in my size!!!

After trying on the shoes, or while I was trying on the shoes (about 45 minutes into my shopping), I was made aware that the entire store was on sale! When you buy three or more items, you save 30% off your purchase! I already had that in the bag, so I perused the store to sniff out any other deals! I headed back over to the lingerie section- as a girl can NEVER have too many bras and panties! Seamless Boy Shorts? Yes please! A tan strapless bra and tuxedo plunge bra- YES! Although it did take me a while to find my size!

I did find some tops and a HUGE clearance section… I think I was overwhelmed and the merchandising could have been a bit more alluring, as I was trying to find something to walk away with!

BUT I DID, I DID!!!

Accessories, shoes, panties, and bras!

Overall experience?

SCORE on the things I was looking for! Cute and comfortable flats, chonies, and bras and jewelry! I could not be happier- especially after saving over $65 due to a sale! I had no idea! Because I was on a mission, the lackluster customer service did NOT deter me, although I was irritated while shopping. I will chalk it up to this specific location, ONLY because I did find some really fabulous things!

Have you shopped at the Avenue? I have been more of a Jessica London and One Stop Plus fan, but let this be a lesson for ME! NEVER write off a place- ever! You’d think I would have learned my lesson with Lane Bryant from the Lane Bryant conference last year! How about me being pleasantly surprised?

What type of enabler would I be if I did NOT share with you a coupon code and link to shop your heart out! Especially with the wide width shoe selection!!!!

Take 20% off your purchase at Avenue

I am the most goofiest perfectionist. Seriously. I love doing my nails, but more often than not, I make a mess of my hands- only to tirelessly and frustratingly throw my hands to the nail polish remover in my failed attempts of doing my nails.

BUT! To my surprise, I found an awesome solution to my nail polish woes! I headed to Walgreens last week to pick up some nail polish for my younger cousin graduating from high school (we have this nail polish bond). I stumbled upon the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips, while looking for the Crackle Polish and my cousin scored- yet MY curiosity was intrigued!

Yesterday I hastened back to Walgreens, after asking my Tweeps on Twitter about these foreign polish strips. The image of fishnet fingernails had me so excited and elated! So I broke down and bought them!

AND I AM SO GEEKED I DID!

Without fudging up a manicure with an unsteady hand, I managed to rock out a gold and black fishnet manicure! Called Misbehaved, my fishnet manicure was applied in three cool steps!

Peel off the Nail Polish

Apply and Smooth onto my Nails

Shape and File down to desired shape

***To protect my nails from wear, I added a clear top coat!

This tip was HIGHLY recommended from my beauty experts on Twitter!***

Seriously, in less than 30 minutes, I had a manicure that (in my eyes) ROCKS!

Where have I been? Although a bit tardy to this nail polish party, I am happy that I finally arrived!

So, remember when One Stop Plus released their Spring Collection during New York Fashion Week last Fall? No? Well do you remember when I shared with you the collection being ready?

Well, I had the pleasure of being sent a few items from the OSP Collection to review I was quite optimistic and in this case, it worked out to be in my favor!

On my trip to the Bay Area to celebrate my bestie’s graduation from Grad School (Congrats Janelle!), I chose to bring this dress with me as I thought this would be the perfect dress to rock- not too dressy or too casual!

So, I rocked the Aquatic Lace Dress- the same one Ashley Graham was rocking on the runway! Although I am NO Ashley Graham, I felt just as fabulous on the Concrete runway!

Hehehe…

I loved quite a few things about this dress!

For one, the color. This teal is the perfect shade of blue (although I have the strongest propensity to rock teal), I can pair this teal with the various browns and neutrals!

The sizing. So true to fit, not taught across the bust, roomy in the arms, and with this shape of dress, it skimmed the curves just where it needed to and the length was perfection!

It was just as I imagined it from the runway! A lot of times, what is shown on the runway is traditionally watered down a bit- and THIS was not the case! ELATED!

Anywho, this is how the whole look turned out to be!

My Heels and my Essie Bright Blue Toenails!

What do you think? Do you like the dress?

Have you shopped the One Stop Plus Collection? What have you purchased from here? Are you a fan as well!?!

Make sure you check out the Collection by OSP!

And because I love you guys so much, being the enabler and all, please enjoy a special coupon code!

15 off $50, $25 off $75, $35 off $100 with Code OSPCOUPON13

That this week, May 23 – 27, 2011 is National Swimsuit Confidence Week??

Yes, there is an official Swimsuit Confidence Month and I am quite elated over this momentum! In support of this fabulous idea and week, I was asked by Land’s End to participate by fashioning my curves in a bathing suit of my choice to share with you with how comfortable and confident I am in my bathing suit!

GEEKED!

Given my new environment, I had to snap photos indoors as I am helping my lil sister move! BUT! Here I am, in my Woman’s Living Polka Dot V-Neck Tankini and skirted bottom! In a size 16, this suit fits AND supports!

Land’s End surprisingly carried an amazing array of great options for the petite, plus, and traditional sizing! So, literally there is a suit for every body! WOOT! I actually had a hard time picking out a bathing suit for this!

I encourage you to take part in this, especially if you have ever doubted that you could rock a bathing suit and be fabulous! This is a great way to see that YOU are NOT alone in this feat to love and own your curves!

So… with all that being said…
