OOTD: Beating the Heat and feeling like a Lady with Land’s End

So. I have challenged myself to play in skirt and separates more. The whole Girly Girl thing … you know.

Well, I was contacted and chosen to be one of the 25 Plus Size Bloggers for Land’s End ‘Show us Your Style’ Campaign, and I made a dash for the site and eagerly picked out this linen skirt! To my surprise, Land’s End has quite a few pieces for the plus size woman and choosing just one piece to marry into my closet was a bit hard!

Now, if you do not know, I am a Cali Girl second, Island girl first. So I tend to be more on the laid back side of things! BUT, I made it work! I paired this brown linen skirt with a strapless tube top and try this high waisted approach! Interestingly, thanks to Nana, I have the highest waist ever! I have tried to play around in more skirts, so who knows!

With the California dry, desert heat, I think I will find myself in much more linen and quite possibly this skirt once more!

Sunday was my step father’s birthday and I was the helper/photog/mom’s assistant in making sure the event went off without a hitch! So, comfort was definitely key!

I wore my brown linen skirt with a white strapless top I scored many moons ago and I paired the outfit with my new Report Kamille Wedges, and tonnssss of bracelets! Kind of like a mini arm soiree going on!

#LuckyFabb: What I Wore, My OOTDays

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the jampacked days of Lucky Magazine’s first west coast, third ever, Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference= FABB. I had missed the last two events in New York, given my arrival time for NYFW, but when I heard through the grapevine the LA conference, I squealed a little bit!

If you don’t know, I live in Southern California and a lot of the real cool events happen in NY or Atlanta! So… the moment I could sign up for the waiting list, the tickets, and the parties, I did not walk , I ran over to sign up!

After registration, I was invited to their Sunday Welcome brunch put on by the fabulous people of Reward Style! Given that this was a fashion blogger brunch, I knew that people were going to be fitted, however I also knew this was California, so there was going to def be an air of ease! So, what did I wear?

Jibri.

Outfit 1: I pulled out this white dress that I had for a few years, wanting to be more ladylike and playful! Donned with asymmetric peplum detail, I felt this was perfect, but I had to layer on my accessories!

Then! We had a shopping trip courtesy of the new site, Have to Have in which we sashayed our little bloggers hearts down Downtown Abbey! With a quick shoe swap, I was ready! But then…

Outfit 2: We had a Cocktail Party! That meant outfit change! I wanted to definitely be more laidback, and I could have easily wore what I wore to the cocktail to the brunch, but hey… it’s LA right?

I am looking to see if someone caught an outfit of mines from the conference itself, cause all the while I was taking pictures of the event, I realized in my photos, I have no pictures of my ladylike dress! On the hunt I go!

OOTD: Keeping it Teal

I would have had another outfit to post, but somehow, someway, when I went to upload my photos, the memory card was ERASED and then Corrupted!! UGH… I could have reshot it on another day, but I was over it… especially knowing I had another event in which I could share what I wore… Thus, we have my keeping it teal look.

Sunday, I co-hosted a LA’s Prom Closet Dress Drive with Luiba of Survive Wedding Season and Jessica of You Be Your Best at her BYBY Studio in LA. We gathered over 50 dresses to donate to high school teens that otherwise would not have the resources to attend and go to prom! I was happy to donate 3 dresses alone! So dresses it was!

For this event, I felt a playful dress was in order, so I fashioned the Renata dress in Jade Green (which is more TEAL) from the Igigi Breath of Fresh Air Collection. I got the size 14/16, because I wanted to make sure this puppy was fitted! I really liked it fitted because of the RUCHING! Quite Forgiving! And even though I am not too blessed up top, there is ample room for you ladies who are well endowed!

I received the Spring Sweet Temptations from Iman Cosmetics for review and I feel in love with this really amazing lipstick RED (005) and it lasted all day long! I think I only had to reapply midday- but this was after drinks and cupcake nibbling! SWEET! Don’t be surprised if I am rocking this color all spring!

I paired this dress with heels from Chinese Laundry, bracelet from Fennimas, rings from Lane Bryant and earrings from BeBe!

The day was quite nice; thanks to fabulous sponsors- Sweet E’s who made the MOST delicious mini cupcakes, Two Birds Bridesmaids dresses, Sole Mates, Sole Society, Rent the Runway, and quite a few more!

Our DJ was tre cool and we even had makeup demo’s and a seamstress on hand to take measurements for those who wanted to check and double check! Here we are all together, at the end of the day!

Thank you to all who came, sending over 50 dresses for that teen to feel her absolute best for Prom! Geeked!

OOTD: All Dressed Up and Nowhere to go

So yesterday… it was a doozy.

The comp at the house- the ports died, the monitor died, and had been giving me high blood pressure from the stress of an inconsistent usage experience, BUT I was gonna make it through my day… I had to.

Knowing that I had plans to switch out this computer with my newer one that I had brought with me when I moved from the bay, gave me hope and comfort… EXCEPT. I hadn’t planned on that transition just yet. I wanted to move photos, documents, and whatever else I thought I “might” need before this transition. UGH. FML.

So, frustratingly I switched comps… connecting this computer- KNOWING it hadn’t been used in almost two years. SO then I had to update and reinstall all kinds of programs to keep it up to my speed. Thank God it was a newer one. Part of this installation was thwarted due to the fact that I just purchased Norton on my old comp and I needed to figure out how to get it on this one! SO I called and after a FORTY FIVE minute hold on TWO PHONES, a THIRTY minute installation…. I had my comp and access back- BUT at this time… it was way past noon and I knew there were NO chances for any posts…

I showered- a long hot one, washed my hair, and decided to dress up a little bit. Nothing too fancy, just a dress to make me smile. A dress that would hopefully brighten up my day. And some lipstick too! I wore Fifth Ave Fuchsia PINK from Maybelline JUST to push me out of my funk!

So this is what I fancied:

A TRAC dress that I scored from Ideeli! Thanks to the credits from someone, I referred!
I also decided to pair it with my Mark and James wedges- unknowingly also scored at Ideeli!
My earrings were from Bebe- yes, I know right? They have some KILLER accessories!
My ring from LuvAJ and bracelet from H&M!

What I Wore: City Stepping In Polka Dots

So, yesterday, I was invited out to a denim event (more news to share soon) and I wanted to rock something casual but chic. Headed to the Sunset Towers Hotel, I wanted to make sure I was presentable and comfy!

Keyword: Comfy!

Pardon the sad faces… I think I was tired? LOL So, I rocked this outfit:

I received a pair of Karen Kane Ankle pants for review (I have been wanting a pair and was quite surprised by Karen Kane!) that fit me quite comfortably- who knew that a pair of black skinnies would be! I expected to be restricted or the fit to be off, but how wrong was I? I am in a 1X and they fit quite well! And being that I sat in a total of 4hours of traffic, these puppies did not irritate or cut into the belly!

Added special note: You def should check out Karen Kane as they have a section for plus sizes and they have great staple pieces that fit quite well and more fashionable than the Karen Kane our parents grew up with- honestly!

I paired my skinnies with a sheer polka dot top in a UK size 20 that I scored on sale a while back from Dorothy Perkins! Add my wedges from Matiko to the mix and voila!

Daytime chic without being too fancy or stuffy? I think so!

OOTD: Day One #MAGICLV at the Teen Vogue Blogger Lounge

I have survived the magic of MAGIC Las Vegas! Being that it has also been a while since I posted an outfit, I thought that one would be befitting!

As I had shared, MAGIC Las Vegas had invited me to cover, share plus size fashion insights, and shine a light on the fashions found- and that I did! My home base was the Teen vogue Blogger Lounge, located in Central Hall!

The challenge to MAGIC was creating outfits around the shoes. 1 million square feet?

Um, flats please! Comfy flats STAT!

So for day one, I went with a dress I scored from the Rachel Pally Sample Sale event I went to on press night! Paired with my ankle booties (which you cannot see), a bracelet and ring from my H&M excursion, a Glitterings ring, my earrings from BEBE- I was relaxed, comfy and feeling quite boho chic! Hahahaha! I was feeling just a little bold and fancy in this dress and with this print.

OOTD: Feeling Like Royalty in Queen Grace

On the 11^th, Two Point Oh LA held its second annual SnowBall, and to say I was excited to get all fancy, is an understatement.

For me, it is one of the only times that I could get all fancy in head to toe glitter if I wanted to and no one would side eye me! LOL

So, to get my look together, I reached out to New Comer and top sponsor for my Blog Anniversary Party- Queen Grace… especially as this sequins Maxi Skirt had me really intrigued!!!! You know me with my maxis…

I caught up with my fellow Curvy Bloggers, Ivory and Monique and we hit the town!

Here is what I wore:

I fancied the Gwen Skirt and the matching Rony top (in a few sizes too big to hang off the shoulder!). I rocked my Just Fab Shoes I scored from The Just Fab Holiday party hosted by Jessica Paster!
