Boy Meets Girl by Stacy Igel “The Invasion Collection” was a complete takeover. It combined a British Pop early 90’s aesthetic. It felt like an ongoing party. It was loud and colorful. It was edgy and included layers of textures and a purposeful display of the Boy Meets Girl logo. The attitude was present and it was a killer show when recording artist Leah LaBelle performed “Lolita” produced by Pharrell. You had models stomping the runway while Leah belted out the lyrics. I have to add that at the beginning of the show teen model Gia daughter of Teresa Giudice (Real Housewife of New Jersey) also stomped the runway.
The show was presented by Conair, Style360 and Harman Kardon. Sitting across from me was Jermaine Dupri and Carla Facciolo from Mob Wives. You also had celebrities Rosario Dawson (Actress), Paula Garcés (Actress), Lenay Dunn (MTV Host/Actress), Joanne Nosuchinsky (Miss New York USA 2013), Nikki Orlando (Miss New York Teen USA 2013), Alex McCord (Real Housewives of New York), Miri Ben-Ari (Musician), Wynter Gordon (Atlantic Recording Artist), Baiyu (Singer), Brandon Michael Vayda (Actor), Kerry Rhodes, (Arizona Cardinals), Michael Coe (Dallas Cowboys) and many more.
The entire collection was spirited, fresh and a throwback to an era that wasn’t afraid to be loud with style. You just wanted to dance your way onto the runway and steal the clothes right off of the models. I think that sometimes as women we are afraid to play with our style and thrown in color and prints. Stacy Igel sort of forces you to be bold and proud!
