Glamour and Crystal Renn talk body images and her weight
Last month, Crystal Renn’s latest editorial, Passion for Fashion raised quite a few eyebrows with her latest slimmed down persona, causing quite a stir amongst both mainstream fashion and the plus community.
Crystal Renn has taken quite a few hits from both sides of the fashion world, and today- she sets the records straight, by showing pictures of just how altered the photos are when she sat down with Cindi Leive, Editor-in-Chief of Glamour Magazine.

When questioned about her worry and how theses images would be received and how girls would look at those thin-looking pictures, thinking that she were glamorizing extreme skinniness, Crystal shared this:
“Yes. That was a huge fear for me. I thought, “People are going to think that I’m sick—and maybe a girl who’s suffering from an eating disorder sees a picture like this and gives up hope.” People who have followed my story and heard my voice might think I’ve turned my back on that, and that it’s only beautiful to be thin. They’re not going to know where I stand right now, and I understand that. Because if I were in their shoes looking at this picture, I would be disturbed. I would absolutely be disturbed.” – Crystal Renn in Glamour interview

Wow, I had no idea it had been ‘shopped that much! Were the Gaultier pictures slimmed down too? They must have been.
At least a little bit! But in these days what isnt?
In general, it does seem like Crystal Renn has been looking slimmer in her photos but that B&W shocked me. I’m glad to know they were photoshopped and she’s not losing weight at such a rapid unhealthy weight. I would love to strangle whoever made her so thin. What was the point of booking her if they were going to do that?

You bring up a smart point! Why hire her if they are going to photoshop!
She doesn’t even look like herself in the Glamour photos – emaciated, disproportionate. She has gorgeous curves. They even pick the poses that hide her curves the most. There are plenty of waifs and skinny minis out there. If you’re going to hire Crystal, then give us Crystal.
She has lost weight, it’s obvious in her face but it’s nice to know it wasn’t as much as everyone was lead to believe. The retouching definitely reduced her to the point of unnerving people. And something about those images screams homeless teenager who’s met up with the wrong crowd.
Quite an insightful observation… I would have to agree, not my most favorite shot…
