A Boho Luxe Plus Size Fashion Spread: Justine Legault in July Clin d’Oeil

You know, one day I will feature a plus size model  fashion spread from  a magazine here in the states. One day- I am optimistic!  Not one that says “oh! And here is a curvy girl!” A full on special fashion feature we get outside of the US!  If you have been following my blog, last month, I raised the question of Curves in the USA, and the latest full frontal fashion magazine featuring plus size models, hails from Canada!

Thanks to Judgment of Paris, I found this eight-page fashion spread for the July issue of Clin d’Oeil featuring plus model Justine Legault. Caught in the woods, this beauty shows a little bit of a boho luxe (you know this is my style!) feel! After being featured in the March cover issue with five other models, discussion self acceptance, they turned right around and featured this woman! Take a peek!

  1. Rosie says:

What I think will be momentous is when a “plus” model and a “regular” model will be featured together without it being a big deal. I hate to say it, but for the magazines it is not about body acceptance and trying to put all sizes out there; it is about money. And this is all the rage. Yes, I LOVE seeing these absolutely stunning, curvy women in the magazines, and I am sure it is a step to one day having all sizes of women together in a spread. I don’t agree, though, that singling out a “plus” model for one spread is actually an advance in acceptance.

Hi! I’m French Canadian. It would be hard to translate everything they’re saying, but they ask the models “In a society with so much emphasises on image, do you try to improve your own physical appearance or do you try to accept yourself as you are?” so they’re all sharing their experience.

Justine Legault said she has always been a little curvier than average but didn’t have a problem with it, except it’s often other people who do. People would tell her to lose weight while she felt good in her own body. She also says she’s seeing a shift now, there is more demand for curvy women in the media.

I’m going to buy Clin d’Oeil tomorrow!
