2010 Golden Globes- what the Curvy Fashionistas wore

Last year, we had quite a few curvy cuties putting their best curve forward, and this year we have two major and two on the smaller side of plus, but curvy none the less.  After watching the golden globes last night, I was quite tickled with the mirage of fashion that sashayed down the red carpet, especially with the three Curvy actresses who represented. Rain or Shine, the red carpet didn’t stop the stars from shining bright!

Gabby, Mo’Nique, and Christina were working the red carpet, with no tickets to be had (or maybe one) to the fashion police!

Mo’Nique showed us all that glitter is gold, especially after winning her Golden Globe for Best SUpporting Actress. While her dress was beautiful and breathtaking, what I did have an issue with was with her unshaven legs, proudly put on display…. Um… no.

    The dress was lovely, as was her hair and makeup. For whatever reason, though, she refuses to shave her legs. I know plenty of African American men and women who believe hairy legs or even a light mustache are sexy on women. I’m with the crowd that instantly thinks “YUCK” when I see legs like that. Those legs messed up an otherwise flawless look.

    Congrats to Mo’nique on her win for Best Supporting Actress in a drama; she looks gorgeous in her gold gown. Yeah her legs are hairy…so what…LOL. At least she has a Golden Globe Award. (wink)

    I think the designer did Gabby a dis-service. The designer tried, but IMHO, didn’t get it. That dress (to me!) looks a lot like what every plus sized grandma wore to her grandchild’s wedding 25 years ago. A nice drapey crepe de chine or satin dress with some body and perhaps a jacket (something along the lines of what Jennifer Hudson wore to one awards show a year or so ago) IMHO would have been much more in keeping with her age.

    Mon’ique looked fabu–and yes, I shave my legs, but feminism is all about choice. If she doesn’t feel the need, bravo to her.
