Irritated.

Confused.

Pissed.

Irked.

Violated.

I woke up this morning to a lovely google alert (you should have these by the way) and I had one for my blog here, The Curvy Fashionista.

WELL- To my surprise, I found a NEW blog has popped up with “Curvy Fashionista” in script declaring itself a blog for the plus size woman. I do not know how to feel about this. Should I fight, ignore, battle or threaten?

I loathe discourse and drama- really I do!

Now what do I do?

This site, curvyfashionista.net does not have any contact info, anything personal, no way of contacting them, except through who is, and there is only what appears to be a company’s address!

I’m sad.

A bit bothered!

What is even more weird about it, is that this site is chock full of affiliate links, so as to use what ever traffic I have as they land on their page to shop…

Ewww…

Well, know this Curvy Fashionistas!  Hopefully you know my link, have bookmarked my feed, and/or subscribed to my newsletters!

I do my best to bring you a variety of information, built up this blog for a year, with all the changes, and I will do my best to stay encouraged and not let this bother me too much… we shall see…  :(

    My mother always use to tell me that the highest form of flattery is a copy cat.

    From a business perspective, they were smart. They used a name that was already known in the plus community. So if someone types in “Curvy” Instead of “The” they’ll most likely get both of you.

    It can be maddening to work so hard on a product & then have others try to roll thru and steal a thing or two, but in the end…the best always beats out the rest.

    Just chalk it up to an experience and keep it moving.

    Unless you have trademarked “the Curvy Fashionista” (and derivatives) then there is little you can do. If it bothers you that much you might want to consider buying up the other domain names and having them link to yours.

    They can steal your name, but they can never steal who you are, your integrity, and your perserverance. The Curvy Fashionista is a fab site, Marie and you have worked so hard to make it what it is today. Their cookie cutter site doesn’t stand a chance next to yours! Keep doing your thing!

    I doubt they deliberately copied you. Chances are, they probably have no idea about your site. The internet is so huge now that it’s a pretty common idea that someone was bound to have the same name. It’s hard for a domain to be completely unique.

    First of all, you are first class!…second of all…go and snatch the rest of those URL’s and point every single last one to your site!…nobody REALLY uses .nets or at least not many folks visit them…so dont fret, but do get the rest of the CurvyFashionista stuff and begin to trademark your stuff!!!
