Across the pond, UK’s department store Selfridges decided to pull it’s entire plus size department a few weeks ago.
In an age where more “real women†are celebrated in magazines, throughout the fashion scene, we have broken barriers on the catwalk, graced mainstream magazine covers, and just when we are at the brink of making real progress, Selfridges happens.
Up to a few weeks ago, plus size women could find the latest in Marina Rinaldi and other plus size designers who fashion fits for the fashion forward plus size woman. However, in the light of “updating its brand mix,†Seflridge’s has decided to cease catering to the plus size consumer.
Although the store says, “At present customers can find size up to a UK 18 in store,” and “We keep a couple of 18’s in the stock room. We don’t display them,” Selfridge’s shameful attempt to snub the fat girl because its brand mix is despicable.
Shame on you Selfridges….
