I was hoping for the "My 'blubber' would rather go naked for the ethical treatment of all" statement rather than one that associates fat people with animal slaughter.

I'm with you, Rachel. There are plenty of "non-svelte" vegetarians.

I like the pro-fat pro-fur ad *just as much* as the anti-fat anti-meat ad, which is to say not at all. The thing I hate most about PETA is that they prompt immature people, even when justifiably angered, to react to their anti-things campaigns by indulging in those very things. Suggesting that fur is "ethical for all" is just disgusting. Do they know that a lot of that is cat or dog fur mislabeled as the fur of species we care less about killing?

I didn't so much see it as a saying that fat people are meat-eaters. I saw it more as a "F*ck you, here's a fat and fabulous woman in fur." It was more of a low blow to PETA than a comment on fat people.

Granted, they could have taken the high rode, but I understand being pissed enough to flaunt the fur as "revenge" for PETA's childish antics

Peace,
Shannon

While it's nice to see Manik standing up for fat people and showing PETA their endless assault towards larger bodies is degrading, draping a fat woman in what appears to be real fur is not the right way to do it. It's only going to reinforce stereotypes that we don't care about anything but where our next meal comes from.

I have to agree with Vidya... As a fat rights activist, I was appalled by Peta's campaign, but as a vegetarian, I also feel that it's not only something I absolutely cannot get behind, but that it also reinforces Peta's stereotypes of fat people as meat-eaters.

Oh, God. I was so hopeful that this would be a positive response to PETA's disgusting fat-phobic behaviour. But instead, it seems to involve associating fat people with animal murder -- "trimmed in fur...Go ethical for all"??? F*cking hell, I have no words for this. Have the folks at ManiK never heard of intersectional oppression? "Hey, let's fight anti-fat prejudice ... with speciesism!" EPIC FAIL.
