Each Fall, anticipation overwhelms fashionistas as they flock to the plethora of September Issues to bear witness to the great reveal of fashion trends and the proclaimed newest “it” items. Fall is to some, a renewal, or rebirth of fashion and to some, a dreaded time where she is lavishly inundated with many interpretations of both over and understated luxe.

None of these to escape the fashion forward plus size diva. In fact, each season, with each fashion trend or forecast, shopping for these can become daunting as it can be frustrating finding designers who interpret these trends for the plus size fashionista.

Not only are the themes, key items, and color trends highlighted, the designers who so amazingly provide these are highlighted. With the help of Harper’s Bazaar, Nieman Marcus, and Style.com, I have digested the looks and trends to show you what is looking fly for Fall.


Before the top ten items, you must understand the themes trending for fall. Below are the main themes you must familiarize yourself with, BEFORE you run out to update your wardrobe, as you may already have some of these in your closet!

Thematic Inspirations:

Cool Classic Chic
Camel hair jackets, the re-invented classic white blouse, and the impeccably tailored suit brings fashion back to its tried and true core. Outwear and statement jewels polish off the look to a T.

Rocker Chic
Leather, metallics, ankle boots, studs, zippers, skinny black pants, and leggings paired with a strong attitude define this trend. Add a splash of color through your denim or graphic tee, and you are set you rock the runway.

Militant Chic
From rock to edgy-feminine to bohemian, the militant trend defines itself through gold detailing and ornate trims on military jackets, paired with skinny pants, foho prints,shiny leggings and strong accessories.

Wartime Chic
Menswear expertly tailored, curve-hugging suits and dresses, high collars, ruffle and bow blouses, waist coats, tailored vests, slim-cut jackets in both a double or single breast, hats, elbow gloves- this trend is a mixture of sharp tailoring and stereotypically masculine clothes, but all cut to accentuate and flatter the female body.
