PETA’s appeal to the Plus-Size woman

email

While on Twitter today, I ran across one of my lovlies (@vactress) post today about PETA’s newest ad in Florida and was besides myself.

To think we have a hard enough time trying to instill confidence in our plus size women with the incredulously ignorant statements, we now have to defend the curves once again. To make things worse, Ashley Byrne, a senior campaigner for PETA stated, “Our goal is help overweight Jacksonville residents – the best way to do that is to go vegetarian. We’re not trying to insult anyone. Vegetarians look and feel better than meat eaters. This is a life-saving message.”

Really?? Is that what it is? I’m done. I cannot say anymore, I would like for you to sound off…

Although I do not believe PETA's heart is in the right place, I personally feel better and have more energy to spare since I've gone vegetarian. However, that advertisement for their campaign is WHACK!!!!!!!!! How dare they they use the words WHALES, BLUBBER accompany a photo of an curvy woman to discourage people from eating meat. They just have no class when it comes to marketing… AND yes they do aim to offend EVERYONE for sake of drawing attention to their agenda. ;)

Well all I have to say is that not every vegetarian I know is thin, slim or skinny. So for PETA to go this route in advertising is appalling. All I got to say is I love meat and no matter what PETA or any one else says I will not be bullied or made to feel shame full for eating what I like and looking the way I do.

It's ok to poke fun at plus sized people because it makes thin people feel superior for something they don't have control over. Thinness is not synonymous with healthiness. I wasn't sure how I felt about PETA before…. I'm sure now.

I have to admit that I felt better (and had healthier blood numbers) after giving up a lot of vegetarian food and adopting a Paleolithic diet. Lots of meat (including red), eggs, and nuts. That's the way we were designed to eat!

I actually gained 20lbs when I went vegetarian. This is the kind of thing that proves prejudice is alive and well in NA. I added chicken back and lost a ton of weight. Ignorant and absurd.

I am going to send PETA a picture of me in a fur bikini eating a steak. That's my answer.

I don't think issue is whether to be vegetarian or not…It the shameful way they are advertising it! Whales, Blubber and then a curvy woman..Shameful…..I'm going to send off an email to PETA.

If you know the history of PETA' tactics concerning campaigns and rallies, you know that this is typical for them. I was not shocked by it because of who they are, but sad that we still allow PETA to pull these kind of stunts. As far as the higher ups at PETA, they allow and condone these things to happen. It is so shameful!

Any donations to PETA that I was considering, and I do make donations to animal rights causes, will never happen. It puzzles me that a cause that seeks to protect life, has no compunction about attacking another species??
