Project Curve Appeal- This Plus Size Expo Rocked!

Project Curve AppealI was able to attend Project Curve Appeal, in Atlanta, Ga last week! Immersing myself in the fabulous, and much needed sun, I had a blast meeting fashionistas, businesswomen and divas, all here to celebrate the Curvy.Confident.Chic. Fashionista!

When I arrived in the ATL last week, Miss Sommer from Gemini Magazine hosted my visit for Project Curve Appeal. My most gracious host opened her house and her doors to me for my stay in the fabulous ATL!

Project Curve Appeal was May 9th, presented by Miss Bev Wilson of Project Curve Appeal INC and Pink City Entertainment. This Plus Size Beauty and Fashion Convention was jam packed with beautiful women and companies and designers who cater to their curves.

Curve Appeal is defined as the power to demand attention and change the distorted perspective of curvaceous women through fascinating charm and alluring confidence. On a mission to correct ”the distorted perception of the ‘big girl’ while empowering, educating, educating and motivating curvy queens to celebrate their beauty,” Project Curve Appeal presented an eclectic and diverse mix of vendors and forums to either educate, inform, entertain the fashion forward curvy, confident, and chic fashionistas.

The expo was held at the International Georgia Convention Center. Walking into the expo, I knew right away I was in the right place! Decorated in their signature pink and black, Project Curve Appeal was a buzz with vendors and eager plus size divas, all here to celebrate their plus size curves!

From pole dancing with Pole- A- Teaz to handmade cosmetics on the spot with Ginger cosmetics, spoken word from Khari to the latest fashions and finds with Gemini Magazine, Project Curve Appeal delivered treats from all aspects of the curvy lifestyle! With designers Jibri and Qristal Frazier holding booths and showcasing, they delighted us with amazing fashionable frocks for all our fabulous full figured fabulousness!

Project Curve Appeal kicked off the event with a model search for the “Face of Curve Appeal.” Potential models sashayed down the runway, to aspire the chance to be a new face for the Face of Curve Appeal! I found this very amusing as those who chose to be a fly on the wall and gain an insight onto how the process goes!

Project Curve Appeal, Kurvy KutiesThe first entertainment of the day was by the Kurvy Kuties Dance presentation. These women were full figured and fabulous, busting moves proving that the plus size diva can dance and get down just like her straight sisters! These ladies performed twice with different themes each time! From their outfits, to their hair, these Kurvy Kuties were stylin all while bringing the crowd some fabulous moves!

The first fashion show followed the Kurvy Kuties. Design Faze showcased with their new lines of Plus Size Fashions carried in their boutique located in Atlanta.

T. Marshall followed the fashion show empowering the crowd to “Love every ounce” of you! As a motivational speaker, Miss T. Marshall left the crowd with words “I cannot control how I am perceived, but I can control how I am presented.” Her words of inspiration were to motivate and encourage, and that she did!

Project Curve Appeal, Hidden Treasurz
Hidden TreasurZ heated the runway up with their racy and sensual lingerie fashion show. All in good taste, these ladies from sizes 14- 28 graced the catwalk with grace, style, and amazing poise! All perfectly clad in size friendly, fashion forward, and impeccably cut fashions!

Project Curve Appeal, KhariKhari, the curve lovin’, smooth talkin’, rhyme spittin’, spoken word poet sprinkled us with some of his best known hits! The crowd responded with smiles and awe as this man serenaded them with his words of love for the thick woman.

The highlights of the fashion shows were those of both Jibri and Qristal Frazier! Curvy.Confident.Chic. Were the best words to describe the looks! HOT!!!!

The night before, Qristal Frazier invited both Sommer and myself to watch and assist with her dress rehearsal! You know, I had a blast, playing dress up in all her fabulous pieces! I had the pleasure of meeting all the fabulous models and helping them get fitted!

Project Curve Appeal was a blast and uplifting! To meet so many women who were working, owning, and loving their curves was extremely exciting! I definitely looking forward to the next one!

Missed it? NO WORRIES! The next Curve Appeal will be September 26th, 2009! Visit Project Curve Appeal for more information and more pictures of the May Event!
