Gemini Magazine brings you “Two Sides to Every Curve” with the Spring Trends Issue

Qristyl Frazier. Anna Scholz. Club Cushions. Clumps of Mascara. These are just some the highlights from Gemini magazine’s Spring issue!
Launched March 2009, editor and founder Sommer Johnson, launched Gemini Magazine, daring to go where few curvy magazines have gone before. By taking two parts Vogue and one part Essence, Gemini Magazine is positioning itself to be the high fashion plus size fashion destination for the discerning curvy fashionista.

The title of Gemini was birthed from the idea and recognition that every woman has two sides to her- even the plus size fashionista. With that thought, Sommer realized that most people underestimate the curvy woman. With whatever stigmas and stereotypes flood the mainstream opinion of this woman, Sommer is determined to shatter them. While she may be a size 20, she can rock a pole, or the boardroom, all while looking and feeling fierce.

Recognizing that not only high fashion, but fashion in general is a big part of the curvy-girl-frustration, Sommer was not only inspired but disappointed with her options. Sharing her thoughts in a past interview with Size is Sexy, she shares her experiences. “This designer says it’s a size 14 but it fits more like a size 12. Or this bra says a DD but it really fits like a C. We are dedicated to bringing curvy women the fashion made especially for them. We are shooting for a mix of mid to high end designers, beauty products, and so on.”

While it is hard not to be biased (as I have written some pieces here), I joined Miss Sommer’s mission because she shared the same vision and passion as I! Bringing plus size to high fashion and high fashion to plus size, is my goal and I am so honored to share this with a burgeoning magazine.

So just what does Gemini pose to present to the domestic engineers, professionals, CEO’s, authors, celebrities, mothers, friends, sisters, and survivors? Gemini pledges to bring to you- “absolute curvaceous fabulousness!”

To celebrate its launch, Gemini magazine is giving away tickets to Project Curve Appeal in Atlanta, GA on May 9th. Do you live in or around the Atlanta area and want to attend this event? The first five people who leave a comment here with a contact will receive a pair of tickets!

In the meantime, please take a read at Gemini Magazine!
